i went into college as a pre-med physics major and after one class on CAD, i knew that this was the career path for me. my mom tells me that she is not at all surprised- from a young age, i had a keen interest in how things worked and i have always refused to read the directions when assembling furniture and toys.
however...
i love having hobbies & interests outside of my work and studies! these things have helped shape me into the person i am today, and are a great source of stress relief when school gets very intense. i hope you'll indulge me & let me share some other things i do below.
I have been dancing since age 3. I have been trained in just about every style- including classical ballet training at the Joffrey School of Ballet, West African dances at Kingston College in Jamaica, standard ballroom at Dancing Classrooms, modern at Alvin Ailey, and musical theater at Broadway Dance Center.
Some of my most notable collegiate dance accomplishments are highlighted below.

Onda Latina
I joined this dance troupe my freshman year of college. Since then, I have been secretary (2020) and have served two terms as Vice President (2021 & 2022). I have also choreographed 8 pieces- one of which was performed at Carnegie Hall (top left) and another that was performed at New York International Salsa Congress (bottom left). I have learned from professionals how to dance salsa, mambo, bachata, merengue, chacha, and a variety of other Latin dances. We frequently get invited to do guest performances at events around campus and in the Philadelphia community.
a piece i choreographed that combines the styles i grew up doing with the style i did in college!
the first partnerwork piece i choreographed that was performed on stage. this was the piece performed at carnegie hall.
my first choreographed mambo piece which was selected to close act 1.
Performing Arts Council
I served as Chair of the Dance Arts Council (DAC Chair) from March 2022-May 2023. I oversaw the 12 dance groups at Penn. I was also the DAC representative on the Performing Arts Council. I was in charge of DAC space allocations every week (5 studios fully booked 5pm-midnight M-Th, 3-9pm F, 10am-8pm Sat, 10am-midnight Sun) and am the groups' contact for any issues or questions. I also host one DAC general meeting and one PAC general meeting per month.
I spearheaded the effort to include the non-DAC dance groups in DAC resources, bringing the groups I oversee up to 27 groups.
I also revived the in-person Emily Sachs Dance Benefit after 2 years off due to COVID. We raised $4,586 (of our $4,000 goal) to donate to the CHOP CAPP+ Asthma Prevention Program.
performing at former penn president liz magill's inauguration. as DAC chair, i choreographed & organized for 6 very diverse groups to perform one piece together.
leading freshman in a stretch during Student Performing Arts Night, organized by PAC board.
One of my responsibilities as VP of Onda Latina was designing and programming the lights for our shows. Each show has over 300 cues and I am only allotted up to 25 hours to complete them in the theater. I have designed a ~80-slide presentation (at right) regarding what lights are available in the theater we use and some cool ways we can use them, which has since been utilized by other lighting designers at Penn. The cue sheet (highlighted in my presentation) is also now the standard cue sheet for all 27 dance groups to use if they are hiring an external lighting designer.
I have also been asked to do lights for other groups.
Watch some of my favorite lights in the pieces below!
she loves helping me with my projects!
as the only redhead in my family, i adopted an orange cat to have a twin! my cat, mambo, named after my favorite style of dance.

I have always wanted to pursue pediatrics*. I have always loved working with kids! In high school, I taught a ballet class for kids aged 6-16 (best of both worlds) at the Salvation Army and worked on the pediatrics floor at a hospital near my house. Now, as a college student, I babysit occasionally.
*Originally, I had intended to do this as a physician, but now I am hoping to get to work on pediatric devices at some point in my career.
this is a video i put together for a senior society. let's celebrate both the good and the bad moments!
